About Prey Crack, and the game!
Prey Crack was the bet of 3D Realms, producer of forever delayed “Duke Nukem Forever”, for a new experience in playing a FPS.
Prey tells the story of indigenous descent Tommy, who dreams of leaving your homeland to seek new opportunities outside of where you live. With the reluctance of your (almost) girlfriend Jen, the angry mechanic turns out to continue your life ordinary right there. This until aliens begin to capture things (including humans) from Earth to some end unknown. And that’s where the existence of Tommy receives a new direction: stuck in a kind of spaceship-alive-to-more-it seems-a-planet-apparently-controlled-by-a-voice-overseer, Tommy has to save yourself and your (almost) girlfriend from certain death, in addition to discover facts about your past insinuados by your grandfather, Enisi.
Although with clichés here and there, the plot develops well, with suspense and interesting twists that will guarantee the most curious breath to continue that nauseating adventure where gravity follows rules specific to each aisle.
Speaking of gravity, this is a topic in which Prey is master in deconstructing. What most stands out in the work of 3D Realms, at first, it’s not your story, but its premises, of which the antigravity scenarios are the strong point. At various times, we see us immersed in locations where the ceiling is the floor (“ground” in the sense of “location where floor and can’t walk”), the wall is a floor and the floor where your character is any orthogonal subdivision of scenery near the ceiling. Good part of all this is only possible thanks to predefined paths where gravity is changed, either through paths where we should shoot or ways by which we can (should) pass, being that such jokes with the force that holds us down are very interesting and very welcome. There are occasions when we attack enemies who are insane points of space around us, which brings us no more paying attention only to the front: the ceiling and walls also serve as a base for the enemies walking, hide and attack. In addition, in some few (unfortunately …) use opportunities that gravitational alternation in mini-games.
Other major new features of the game are the spiritual character modes, where Tommy can design your spirit out of the body and with this walk (and, oddly enough, be seen too – as a white and bright humanoid formation). Although they have been creative additions, such manners were underutilized. The Spirit Mode, in spite of a number of possibilities, it’s just a repetitive mini-game in which one must always pass through a location to which Tommy carnal does not reach and open a port on which the human form of the character can cross. Already the Death Walking sounds like an unnecessary increase in gameplay (although consistent with the plot) for making the effective death of the character impossible. Prey Crack is the bad dosage in the use of weapons. Throughout the game, only three weapons were very useful: the snipper “Rifle”, “Leech Gun and multipurpose machine gun with grenades” Auto Cannon “. The most powerful weapon in the game, “Launcher”, isn’t that interesting and causing great damage as it should. Another fact is that the game itself ends by encouraging the use of certain equipment. In the end, the gun will be of greater added value will be the Leech Gun, just the game almost force the player to use it through the supply of ammunition.
And since you brought it up from the linearity of the game, there’s a big problem of Prey the string-almost-in-line-the line of the plot. Prey Download is one of those games difficult to form an opinion: If the plot becomes interesting throughout the game and the additions are creative and welcome, the execution and the confluence of all this could be much better. However, these negatives don’t make Prey a bad game.
